Food for Thought

Yesterday I posted a controversial Facebook status:

Why do some proclaimed Christians protest abortion but support war?

This sparked some discussion amongst friends:

Friend #1: "why are you picking on christains? why do muslims do the same thing? they support war and are against abortion too. it is because people are inherently full of hypocrisy... whether or not you subscribe to a specific belief."

Friend #2: "have you ever considered a baby a terrorist? has a baby ever threatened to kill you and your family?
purposley killing the inncoent vs. fighting against enemy combatants. sounds like a BIG difference to me."

Friend #3: loaded question ...

firstly, there are plenty of Christians who are pro-choice and anti-war - myself being one of them. There are two facets to my reasoning. 1.) empirical evidence suggests that the abortion essentially saves the mother's (49% of which are low SES teenagers) chances to have a prosperous life. You want sources? I got sources. ... Read MoreI am not convinced that the fetus can feel pain and know the fetus has no reasoning capabilities. Heck, I might even be on board with some suggestions made by Plato in The Republic (ok, no I am not...). 2.) Those same reasoning capabilities that the fetus lacks, ALL humans control. This is a simple concept, but one that is often overlooked. Also, Golden Rule outweighs any eye-for-an-eye belief that is in the old testament. In fact, why can't we just throw the old testy away?

Sure, there are some cute stories (Exodus), big dragons (revelations), and lots of incest(all over), but what is it contributing to our society today except for homo-hatred (which are mostly just misinterpreted) and outdated punishments?

Three very interesting views. What do you think?

SerendipiTea

Just thought I'd share one of my new favorite teas:
Fiji Green Tea from SerendipiTea

Not only do they have a cool name, but this pineapple infused green tea is genuine and smooth with just the right amount of sweet. Everytime I drink it I think of summer and the Bahamas. Don't know why!

Domestic Abuse Awareness

Everyone is talking about it now because of the well-known Chris and Rihanna case. I saw this though and just had to share, #1 because I like Keira and #2 because it really drives the message home.
